Public Relations Objectives
Enhancing public image and awareness is one of the three goals that the President of Rotary International, Ray Klinginsmith has set for the organisation during the coming year.
The Public Relations and Communications Committee of District 9940 will be working to:
- Promote effective communications, both internally and externally
- Gain more understanding of the image and standing of Rotary in the community and its appeal to members
Work with the New Zealand Multi-District PR Committee on national and cross district activities
- Support the DG and clubs through training and communication activities.
A priority for 2010-11 is to explore how social networking and new media can assist Rotary in its communications, and the membership of the committee has been augmented to achieve this.
The objectives of the District PR and Communications Committee are to
- Project the aims, values and activities of Rotary in the 9940 district
- Support the clubs, activities people and programmes of Rotary in the 9940 district by providing advice and services in PR, marketing, publicity and other communications disciplines
Advertising Rotary
Each month eleven clubs in the Wellington city area publish an advertisement in the Wellingtonian, the community newspaper delivered to all residential addresses in the city. The clubs share the cost, and the theme of the advertisements is the community benefit from Rotary’s activities. The ads are produced by the District PR and Communications group with the help of Capiche, a design company owned by Mark Stevens a member of RC Wellington. Other clubs are welcome to use the material or to do their own version. Any clubs of clusters that are interested are encouraged to talk to John Bishop, District PR Group Chair.
